Rotam Recognised by Prestigious Awards in China

Shanghai, China, 26 June 2013 – Fast-growing global organisation, Rotam CropSciences, has received several important awards, seeing the organisation recognised at both industry and state level. The China Crop Protection Industry Association (CCPIA) evaluated over 1000 AgroChemical companies in China and out of the Top 30 Formulators, Rotam’s Formulation and Distribution Business Unit was rated as number 2 in 2012 rankings. This top level accolade is based on sales, production and research and development capacity.

A further two awards, Innovative High Tech Enterprise and State Key Innovative High Tech Enterprise, saw the Technology Department of Jiangsu Province recognises Rotam’s continued investment and commitment to research and development. The award also considered sales generated from its high-tech, patented products, which in 2012 totalled over 60% of turnover.

James Liu, Rotam Vice President and Regional Head in China, describes the accolades as a great honour. “This recognition, highlights Rotam’s significant advances in agricultural technology and crop protection solutions, to the benefit of farmers.”

He ascertains that Rotam’s emphasis on technical customer support, and strategic alliances with other multinational companies, such as BASF, Dow, Nippon Soda and Nihon Nohyaku, has been central to their success in offering a broad product portfolio.

Rotam’s Senior Vice President and Head of Technical Development, Dr. Yifan Wu identifies the next challenge as working even harder to ensure these valued accreditations are maintained, and in doing so, further develop and grow the organisation. “With 18% of our workforce dedicated solely to R&D in 2012, we are well placed to meet this challenge,” he adds.

Dr. Wu points to the firm’s commitment to investing in research and development, highlighting a new Central R&D Laboratory complex currently under development with a planned complexity supporting over 550 scientists in a wide range of disciplines.

“This investment in research and development helps to support enhanced manufacturing capability, with new plants in Taiwan and North China, and further develops our capabilities in delivering customer value in the production of superior disease, pest and weed control solutions.”
