Rotam Announces Registration of Volta™ Thifensulfuron
herbicide
(Miami, FL) Rotam North America, Inc., crop protection unit of the Rotam Group announces the registration of Volta™ agricultural herbicide by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Volta™ is the second product from Rotam in the sulfonylurea herbicide class. A postemergent broadleaf herbicide containing thifensulfuron-methyl, Volta™ can be used in preplant burndown and postharvest applications to wheat, grains, soybeans and corn. Thifensulfuron is the same active ingredient in Harmony®.
Thifensulfuron and the family of sulfonylureas are known for environmental compatibility and selective postemerge weed control at low use rates. Rotam also offers a high quality metsulfuron-methyl for pasture and rangeland applications sold under the brand name Plotter™.
Rotam produces thifensulfuron and metsulfuron in dedicated sulfonylurea manufacturing facilities. “We already have several years experience around the world in manufacturing and selling quality post-patent sulfonylureas,” says Mike Adams, Rotam marketing manager. Rotam controls SU product quality from
active synthesis through port of delivery, including formulation and packaging, Rotam has established a commitment to providing quality post-patent products of this valuable chemistry, and has other SU actives pending registration. “Because of their unique mode-of-action, SUs are difficult to manufacture,” says Tom Chavez, Rotam country manager. “Our SUs can be counted on to deliver the key performance and environmental benefits long associated with this herbicide group.”
Thifensulfuron can be mixed with grass herbicides, fungicides and insecticides for application convenience. Rotam also recently expanded their sales team to support this product expansion.
